Dr Peter Holliday has over thirty years of experience as a professional engineer in the fields of telecommunications, network and software engineering. His experience comes from technical management, research and development activities, and practical involvement in design, implementation and management of operational defence Communications and Information Systems and as a senior technical adviser to numerous defence and non-government projects.
Seven years as the Chief Engineer at the Land Network Integration Centre, Australian Army Headquarters. In this role, Dr Holliday managed the design, development, test and release protocols for integration of Army’s future land communications and IT systems. He was also responsible for evaluation and risk reduction of forward-looking digitisation capabilities due for future integration into the Australian Defence Force.
Previously, Chief Defence Architect for Cisco Systems’ Advisory Services Group. In that role Dr Holliday provided technology, network, security, and application design advice to defence forces in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan and India. Dr Holliday also had responsibility for leading the Asia Pacific and Japan Cybersecurity expert team for Cisco Systems.
Substantial defence experience and has worked as a Network Consulting Engineer for the Defence Network Operations Centre where he was responsible for the design, implementation and optimisation of the Defence wide area communications network, including tactical (remote) interface points. He also managed the rollout of large network remediation projects at defence bases across Australia.
Dr Holliday is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia (FIEAust) with Chartered Status (CPEng), a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (MIEEE), and is a Certified IS Security Professional (CISSP). Dr Holliday is a certified international configuration manager (CICM) and co-authored the Defence Architecture Engagement Framework (DAEF).
